Roared on by the home fans, Chen and Kuai locked up three games on the bounce to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat in a Mixed Doubles epic.

The crowd blew the roof off with deafening cheers in the match before that, as Wang Chuqin began his China Smash campaign with a resounding win over Jang Woojin (11-2, 11-9, 11-9).

This was the second time these two had met this month, with Wang holding the upper hand in their semifinal clash at WTT Champions Macao 2025. The outcome was the same on Sunday evening as World No.1 Wang showed no mercy, kicking the afterburners into action to race into the second round.

Ankur Bhattacharjee’s magical week in Beijing also came to an end, with the qualifying star seeing his run halted by Nicholas Lum (3-11, 11-9, 12-10, 6-11, 11-8).

<iframe loading="lazy" title="Lam Siu Hang vs Ankur Bhattacharjee | MS QR1 | #ChinaSmash 2025" width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/BwgIGMNLW4Q?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer;
