Newly appointed Philippines SEA Games basketball coach Norman Black has secured the services of several naturalised players in their bid to retain the basketball gold in Thailand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Filipino naturalized players Justin Brownlee and Ange Kouame will be joined by Japan B.League imports Bobby Ray Parks and Matthew Wright, along with Remy Martin, top PBA rookie aspirant Jason Brickman, MPBL star Dave Ildefonso and collegiate standout Veejay Pre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Black is hoping to secure the services of four more \u201cbig\u201d players to beef up the squad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brownlee, Kouame, Martin, and Brickman are all considered naturalised players under FIBA rules, but they are able to play in the SEA Games at the same time as the SEA Games Federation require athletes to present only the passport of the countries they choose to represent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Gilas Pilipinas have won a record 19 SEA Games gold medals, including one under Black in the 2011 edition in Jakarta, Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Black has temporarily taken the coaching reins for the national team after official head coach Tim Cone begged off from calling the shots in the SEA Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
