The Maldives will host Carrom World Cup for the second time from 2-6 December. Maldives had previously hosted the tournament in 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two-hundred participants from 20 countries are expected to take part in the biggest carom festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The announcement follows a string of strong performances by Maldivian players on the international stage. At last year\u2019s Carrom World Cup in California, both Maldivian teams reached the semi-finals in the team event, securing bronze medals after being defeated by Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Maldives also saw notable success at the Asian Carrom Championship held in Mal\u00e9 City in 2024. In the doubles event, Ismail Azmeen and Hassan Nazim won silver, while the men\u2019s team claimed silver in the team category and the women\u2019s team earned bronze. Several Maldivian players also reached the quarterfinals in the singles events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
India is once again expected to dominate the World Cup. In San Francisco last year, their women players swept the podium in the women\u2019s singles with Khazima M Basha, Rashmi Kumari and Preeti Jakhotia sweeping the board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Indians also swept all three top spots in the men\u2019s singles through Srinivas K, Mohammad Arif and Aditya Sivalenka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They also won the top two spots in the men\u2019s and women\u2019s doubles events with Sri Lanka taking bronze medals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
