The first Gold event of the new PSA Squash Tour season gets underway later today as the London Squash Classic returns to the PSA calendar with star studded line-ups confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
World No.2 Diego Elias\u2019 last visit to the UK was a very successful one as he lifted his first British Open title, beating Mostafa Asal in the final. The Peruvian will be looking to reclaim the World No.1 spot as soon as possible this season and would love to start the season with a win to put pressure on current World No.1 Asal. He\u2019s set to face either Baptiste Masotti or Raphael Kandra in round two before potentially coming up against Youssef Ibrahim in the quarter finals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reigning champion Paul Coll returns to London as he looks to claim a seventh title in England\u2019s capital. Coll overcame Joel Makin and Mostafa Asal in the inaugural 2024 event and will be determined to regain his title. The New Zealand No.1 is set to play either Mohamed Abouelghar or Declan James in round two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
USA\u2019s Olivia Weaver tops the women\u2019s draw as she looks to claim a third Gold event title in 12 months. Weaver enjoyed her best season to date on the PSA Squash Tour last season and will now be setting her sights on the World No.3 spot and a win this week will certainly heap the pressure onto Hania El Hammamy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As much as Weaver is eyeing El Hammamy\u2019s spot, World No.5 Amina Orfi is hot on the heels of Weaver. The Egyptian claimed yet another World Junior Title over the summer and will be determined to be back in PSA action. With another season full of intense matches under the belt of the 18-year-old, more scalps could be on the horizon for Orfi this season and maybe a place in the top four, maybe three. Can she get off to the perfect start in London this week?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Four other top 10 players feature in the women\u2019s draw, including defending champion Sivasangari Subramaniam, who will have fond memories of the event from her 2024 heroics, where she beat Nour ElSherbini, Nele Gilis and Hania El Hammamy to claim her biggest career win.
