Only three South East Asian karatekas have qualified for the World Karate Championships to be held in Cairo from November 27-30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of\u00a024 athletes per category (288 athletes)\u00a0have been confirmed till date. So far,\u00a082 federations\u00a0already have at least one qualified athlete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are still\u00a08 places per category pending. Six of those will be awarded at the Qualification Tournament and two more via universality places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ironically, all three qualified exponents come from Malaysia and all three are female karatekas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Lovely Anne Robberth will represent the nation in the Female Kata<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shahmalarani Chandran will compete in the women\u2019s kumite below 50kg whileZakiah Adnan will compete in the women\u2019s kumite below 61kg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

African powerhouses Algeria and Egypt have the most number of qualifiers for the world championships with 12 exponents each. Australia and Japan have 11 qualifiers respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
