The 24-year-old’s first victory in 65 starts sees him become the eighth first-time winner on the Tour this season. He had entered the final round four strokes back but carded a bogey-free round to claim the two-stroke victory over Xander Schauffele.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His 262 total also matched the 72-hole tournament scoring record with Tony Finau in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thorbjornsen surged into the lead at No. 14 with his third of four birdies in a six-hole stretch and closed with a clutch putt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Making his Rocket Classic debut, 10-time PGA TOUR winner Schauffele, led briefly on the final day, but his final round 65 saw him finish runners-up for the 16th time in his career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
