It will be battle of generations for the women\u2019s singles crown at the Taipei Open badminton championships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Teenager Tanvi Sharma of India will be up against a player 11-years her senior, Nguyen Thuy Linh in the final after both players disposed of higher ranked opponents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Seventeen-year-old Tanvi was in her elements as she took just 33-minutes to dispose of fifth seeded Taiwanese Huang Yu-Hsun 21-17, 21-11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nguyen came back 11-16 down in the second game to defeat another Indian player, third seeded Unnati Hooda 21-15, 21-18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both players are in search of their maiden BWF Super 300 title. Tanvi finished runners-up to American Zhang Beiwen at the US Open last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
En route to the final there, Tanvi had disposed of Nguyen in the first round. Despite her lower ranking, Tanvi would go into the final as a stronger bet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nguyen, who has three Super 100 titles, finished runner-up in all of her three previous Super 300 finals \u2013 losing to Dane Mia Blichfeldt at the German Open two years ago and at last years German Open (Yeo Jia Min of Singapore) and Canada Open (Manami Suizu of Japan).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reigning All-England champion and second seed Lin Chun-yi\u2019s campaign in the tournament came to an end in the semi-finals after he crashed to a 19-21, 19-21 defeat to Korean Yoo Tae-bin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 22-year-old Tae-bin will be up against Japan\u2019s Yudai Okimoto in the final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Okimoto upset top seeded Taiwanese veteran Chou Tien Chen,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
15-21, 21-15, 22-20. The Japanese shuttler thus denied Tien Chen, who was the surprise winner at the China Open last week, back-to-back final appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The women\u2019s doubles final will see top seeds Pearly Tan-Thinaah Muralitharan of Malaysia squaring off against the unseeded Japanese duo of Sumire Nakade-Miyu Takahashi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both pairs booked their finals in contrasting styles. Pearly-Thinaah took just 36-minutes to dispose of Francesca Corbett-Jennis Gai of the USA 21-15, 21-17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Japanese duo had to battle for over an hour to tame Thailand\u2019s Hathaithip Mijad-Napapakorn Tungkasatan 18-21, 21-11, 21-16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pearly-Thinaah, who recent performance at the Tour has been below par due to Pearly making a comeback from an injury, are in search of a second title this season. They had won the Indonesia Masters earlier this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Malaysia will also have a finalist in the men\u2019s doubles with the newly forged pair of Aaron Chai-Aaron Tai, the fith seeds, battling past the unseeded Taiwanese duo of Chen Cheng Kuan-Liu Kuang Heng 24-26, 21-19, 21-16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They play Indonesian eighth seeds Leo Rolly Carnando-Daniel Marthin, who eased past Japan\u2019s sixth seeds Hiroki Okamura-Kyohei Yamashita 21-18, 21-10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The mixed doubles finals will see second seeds Yang Po-Hsuan-Hu Ling Fang of Chinese Taipei taking on eighth seeds Yuta Watanabe-Maya Taguchi of Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Po-Hsuan-Ling Fang had beaten teammates Wu Guan Xun-Lee Chia Hsin 26-24, 21-17 in the semi-finals while Yuta Watanabe-Maya Taguchi edged out a fighting Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto-Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja of Indonesia 21-17, 22-20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Japanese duo will be hoping to repeat their victory over their rivals at the Badminton Asia Championships earlier this year, in the final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This will be their final appearance this season for both pairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
