The third seeded Sze Fei-Izzuddin picked up a convincing 21-18, 21-12 win in their semi-finals.

Aaron-Wooi Yik, have now lost all their previous three meetings against their rivals, who will now play Denmark’s Daniel Lundgaard-Mads Vetsergaard.

The Danish duo denied an-all Malaysian final, when they defeated a higher ranked Junaidi Arif-Yap Roy King 21-19, 21-17.

The final will see two pairs, who have met five times prior to this with the record favouring the Malaysian duo at 3-2. Sze Fei-Izzuddin also go into the final, having already beaten the Danes twice this year – at the Malaysian Open and Indonesian Masters in January.

Thailand’s former world women’s singles champion is through to her third Malaysian Masters final. Hoping to make a record three out of three in the finals, she was a comfortable 21-21, 21-12 winner over Denmark’s Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt.

She will take on top seeded Chen Yu Fei, who defeated Japan’s Hina Akechi 21-11, 21-14 in her semi-final tie.

It is going to take a herculean effort from Ratchanok in the final, having lost to Yufei 19 out of their 22 previous meetings. Ratchanok’s last win over Yufei was at the Malaysian Open four years ago.

Meanwhile, the Teeraratsakul twin brothers Panitchapon and Pakkapon will feature in two finals.

Panitchaphon downed third seed Christo Popov 21-13, 21-13 in the men’s singles semi-final.

As for Pakkapon, he and partner Sapsiree Taerattanachai cameback from a slow start to beat Guo Xinwa-Chen Fanghui of China 15-21, 21-15, 21-17 in the mixed doubles semi-finals.

Panitchapon will take on China’s Li Shifeng in the final tomorrow. Shifeng eased past fellow Chinese Hu Zhean 21-17, 21-16.

The left-handed Thai’s speed, explosive bursts and all-court skills proved too hard a challenge for Popov on the day, and although the Frenchman had arrived in Malaysia far from his best, he refused to take any credit away from his opponent.

“He played brilliantly today,” Popov said.

“I think he was really flying in court, and he totally deserved to win. Of course, I wanted to give more, but I think he made it so tough for me today, and I think the score also reflects his dominance on court today. He played a great game, and I honestly think if he’s playing tomorrow the same style, I think he has a lot of chance to win. So today I just lost to a better player.”

Pakkapon-Sapsiree, were were let down by their nerves of taking on the third seeded Chinese duo in the finals. But they upped the tempo with flawless teamwork in the next two games and set up a final clash against another Chinese pair Gao Jiaxuan-Wei Yaxin.

The Chinese eight seeds battled for 70-minutes before picking up an upset 22-24, 21-16, 21-18 win over fourth seeds bt Mathias Christiansen-Alexandra Boje of Denmark.

Former world number one women’s doubles player Sayaka Hirota is through to the women’s doubles final with Ayako Sakuramoto. The duo, who had only forged their partnership earlier this year, defeated Americans Allison Quynh Lee-Lauren Lam in the semi-finals.

The American pair were seeking to make history by becoming the first pair from USA in a World Tour Super 500 tournament. The Japanese had their hands full, with their opponents unafraid to challenge them, but a surge early in the third game proved sufficient as they emerged winners at 21-15 17-21 21-11.

The Japanese duo will now play China’s Chen Fan Shutian-Luo Xumin, who defeated another Chinese pairing of Bao Lijing-Gao Zihan 18-21, 21-9, 21-19.

SEMI-FINAL RESULTS

Men’s singles: Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul (Tha) bt Christo Popov (Fra) 21-13, 21-13;
