which was scuffed – but Yu retrieved the ball to sidefoot it home.

The goal woke Japan from their slumber as they started to see more of the ball but it was North Korea who went close again with Miyaji having to save Ri Ye Rim’s strike to keep the margin tight at the break.

Shirai made two changes for the second half by sending on Rara Higuchi and Runa Sumiya but had to witness Miyaji collecting the ball from her net for the second time in the 50th minute.

A long clearance from Pak Kyong Ryong was chased down by Yu, who beat Misato Maeda to the ball before lobbing it over the stranded Miyaji to double DPR Korea’s advantage.

A similar move at the other end saw Hayashi’s effort going wide a minute later before the midfielder redeemed herself in the 53rd minute, running on to Sumiya’s defence splitting pass to pull a goal back for Japan.

The reduced deficit, however, lasted two minutes as Yu chested down a long pass before setting up Won Sim for a swerving strike from outside the box which flew past the outstretched Miyaji.

Yu capped a wonderful tournament for herself and North Korea when she was sent racing towards goal in the 81st minute by Won Sim before adding another eight minutes later as the prolific player put the result beyond doubt.

North Korea were at their customary best as they defeated Japan 5-1 to lift the AFC U17 Women’s

[44
63
post-12949","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-international","tag-football
["https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/North-Korea-U17-.jpg",1065,600,false
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/North-Korea-U17--150x150.jpg",150,150,true
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/North-Korea-U17--300x169.jpg",300,169,true
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/North-Korea-U17--768x433.jpg",640,361,true
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/North-Korea-U17--1024x577.jpg",640,361,true],"1536x1536":["https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/North-Korea-U17-.jpg",1065,600,false],"2048x2048":["https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/North-Korea-U17-.jpg",1065,600,false
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/North-Korea-U17--825x575.jpg",825,575,true
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/North-Korea-U17--590x410.jpg",590,410,true
admin
International
["GET
