You need to keep grafting and keep battling, then anything is possible.

“I messed up a couple of weeks by not winning the games I should have won, but that’s the way it is.

“The pressure is on everyone. You know you have to always deliver. I just have to win games.”

Van Gerwen’s quarter-final opponent Humphries, meanwhile, is languishing in sixth, without a nightly win to his name after 12 weeks of action.

The defending Premier League champion has made Finals Night on both of his previous appearances in the competition, yet finds himself in uncharted territory, having never previously been outside a Play-Off spot later than Night Five.

The world number two will also take no solace from the fact that he is yet to win a game in Aberdeen in the Premier League, having only picked up two points in 2024 when Gerwyn Price pulled out due to a back injury.

“Maybe it’s going to be one of those years that I’m going to have to fight it out hard and scrape through in the end,” deliberated Humphries, who has won one of his three meetings with Van Gerwen in this year’s competition.

“I’m going to keep trying, keep pushing, and give it everything that I’ve got.”

Elsewhere, Clayton and Littler have both secured qualification for the Play-Offs, sitting in first and second with 32 and 29 points respectively after picking up four nightly wins each.

Littler trumped Clayton 6-1 in the final last week to win in Liverpool and reduce the gap to three points at the summit of the standings, but the progress made by the pair on Night Twelve has ensured both players will appear at Finals Night in May.

In Aberdeen, world number one Littler will lock horns with Josh Rock in the opening fixture of the evening, as the Northern Irishman looks to produce a remarkable late burst for a spot at The O2.

The 25-year-old suffered his first quarter-final defeat since Night Seven at the hands of Van Gerwen, and whilst he trails the Dutchman by ten points, his pursuit of the Play-Offs is still on the cards.

League leader Clayton is pitted against Van Veen, as the Dutch number one seeks a crucial two points to ignite his push for The O2 in his maiden campaign.

The World Championship runner-up has won just one game over the past three weeks and has been outside a Play-Off spot since Night Seven, but two points against the Welsh number one would reduce the gap to fourth to just two points before Van Gerwen plays Humphries.

Elsewhere, Price will face Stephen Bunting in the other quarter-final, with the Welshman being dragged into the Play-Off race after a sluggish few weeks.

The former World Champion has failed to win three consecutive quarter-final matches, and sits just five points above fifth place.

Ranking points will be awarded per night – with five to the winner, three to the runner-up and two to the semi-finalists – to form the league table from which the top four players will progress to Finals Night at The O2 in London on Thursday May 28.

SCHEDULE
Quarter-Finals
Josh Rock v Luke Littler
Stephen Bunting v Gerwyn Price
Jonny Clayton v Gian van Veen
Luke Humphries v Michael van Gerwen

Michael van Gerwen and Luke Humphries will collide in a pivotal match in the race for the Premier

[44
59
post-12439","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-international","tag-darts
["https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/PR2026PremierLeagueNight8_QF-_-HUMPHRIES_VANGERWEN.jpg",2400,1600,false
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/PR2026PremierLeagueNight8_QF-_-HUMPHRIES_VANGERWEN-150x150.jpg",150,150,true
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/PR2026PremierLeagueNight8_QF-_-HUMPHRIES_VANGERWEN-300x200.jpg",300,200,true
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/PR2026PremierLeagueNight8_QF-_-HUMPHRIES_VANGERWEN-768x512.jpg",640,427,true
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/PR2026PremierLeagueNight8_QF-_-HUMPHRIES_VANGERWEN-1024x683.jpg",640,427,true],"1536x1536":["https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/PR2026PremierLeagueNight8_QF-_-HUMPHRIES_VANGERWEN-1536x1024.jpg",1536,1024,true],"2048x2048":["https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/PR2026PremierLeagueNight8_QF-_-HUMPHRIES_VANGERWEN-2048x1365.jpg",2048,1365,true
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/PR2026PremierLeagueNight8_QF-_-HUMPHRIES_VANGERWEN-825x575.jpg",825,575,true
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/PR2026PremierLeagueNight8_QF-_-HUMPHRIES_VANGERWEN-590x410.jpg",590,410,true
admin
International
International
0
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/PR2026PremierLeagueNight8_QF-_-HUMPHRIES_VANGERWEN.jpg
["GET
