Course planners designed multiple route choices and spectator-friendly passages, creating a dynamic and unpredictable race.

And the Norwegian team comprising Andrine Benjaminsen, Eirik Langedal Breivik, Kasper Harlem Fosser, and Pia Young Vik won by a full 45 seconds after executing an impressive relay race.

Benjaminsen was part of the leading group on leg 1, where Denmark’s second team went first into the exchange. Langedal Breivik ran the fastest second leg and gave Kasper Fosser a small gap, which he extended to 25 seconds ahead of France and Finland in the subsequent positions.

Anchor runner Young Vik successfully defended the lead, so the Norwegian win was never in danger.

Close battle for second place
Behind Norway, the battle for second place unfolded dramatically between Sweden’s two teams. The first team, featuring Hanna Lundberg, Emil Svensk, Isac von Krusenstierna, and Sanna Fasth, ultimately prevailed after a sprint finish between Fasth and Vilma von Krusenstierna from the second Swedish team.

The home crowd had reason to celebrate as Switzerland claimed third place in the official standings, thanks to a strong comeback led by Simona Aebersold.

She closed a 30 second gap and caught up with the two Swedish teams, but her strength ran out and she finished in fourth best position, giving the Swiss the position as third best nation.

The French team was only two seconds behind in fourth, while Finland and Czechia made up the rest of top 6.

The World Cup round in Locarno concludes with the Knock-Out Sprint Sunday, where the top 36 athletes from the individual sprint will compete head-to-head through quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals.

Sprint Relay, top results
1 Norway (Benjaminsen, Langedal Breivik, Fosser, Young Vik) 53:22
2 Sweden (Lundberg, E.
