I was just trying not to get distracted with things out of my control.”

Sivasangari and Satomi Watanabe will battle it out for the Grasshopper Cup crown after the Japanese No.1 dispatched England No.1 Gina Kennedy in straight games.

Watanabe, who had recently prevailed in the Steel City Open final against Kennedy, was too clinical against the Englishwoman to triumph 11-7, 11-5, 11-7.

“The format changed to best of five today so there was a change in mentality, but at the same time I know it’s going to be a really tough game against Gina,” she said.

“We both train a lot so we know how we play and to overcome that is pretty hard. I always enjoy the battles with Gina – it’s always clean and nice – and I’m really pleased to get through today.”

French No.1 Victor Crouin recovered from 1-0 down to stun men’s top seed Diego Elias to advance to his first Grasshopper Cup final.

Crouin, who’s now claimed back-to-back wins on the PSA Squash Tour against Elias having defeated him in the final of the Texas Open, won 3-1 against the former World Champion.

Just like their title shootout in Texas, Elias drew first blood after taking control of the middle of the court. However Crouin improved his accuracy and remained disciplined with his squash to overturn the deficit and win 4-11, 11-4, 11-6, 11-5.

“It’s huge to make it to the Grasshopper Cup final,” he said.

“It was a good match on my hand, there was a lot of variety in my game; using the height, using the drop and I tried to make it tough for him more mentally than physically.

“I was trying to ask more questions, still lost the first game so I need to see how to improve on that.”

Standing in Crouin’s way is 2023 champion Karim Gawad, who fended off Joel Makin 3-1.

Gawad, who defeated Makin when he lifted the Gold-level title in Zurich three years ago, continued his red hot form to reach tomorrow’s final by a 11-6, 8-11, 11-4, 11-8 scoreline.

Afterwards, Gawad said: “The crowd is amazing.

“They know what good squash is and when you play a good shot, they stand behind you and they cheer for both of us.

“It’s a crazy venue and the crowd is amazing, I enjoy being here and it’s one of my favourite tournaments on the calendar.”

Semi-final Results

Men’s: [3] Victor Crouin (FRA) bt.
