Hosts Indonesia are out of the ASEAN Boy\u2019s Under-17 Football Championships with both Vietnam and Malaysia making the cut from Group A of the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Indonesia could only eke out a goalless draw against table toppers Vietnam and missed out on the possibility of advancing as the best second placed team in the championships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That honour went to Malaysia, who beat Timor-Leste 2-0 in their final group match to finish one point behind Vietnam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Malaysia will now take on Group B champions Laos in the semi-finals while Vietnam square off against Group C champions Australia in the other semi-finals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Needing an outright victory against Timor Leste, Malaysia went on the offensive from the first whistle and took the lead in the ninth minute itself. Aniq Thaqif Hairulnizam scored the all-important goal to calm their nerves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Malaysia doubles their advantage in the 61st<\/sup> minute with Adam Haikal Afifi finding the net.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Of the four semi-finalists, only Laos have yet to win the title.
