{"id":11709,"date":"2026-04-15T21:59:36","date_gmt":"2026-04-15T14:59:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.infinitysport.asia\/news\/?p=11709"},"modified":"2026-04-15T21:59:38","modified_gmt":"2026-04-15T14:59:38","slug":"myanmar-stuns-thailand-group-wide-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.infinitysport.asia\/news\/myanmar-stuns-thailand-group-wide-open\/","title":{"rendered":"Myanmar stuns Thailand, group wide open"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Myanmar has stunned three times champion Thailand in their Group C tie at the ASEAN Boy\u2019s U17 football championships at the Gelora Joko Samudro in Gresik, Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 1-0 win has blown open the group with Myanmar, Thailand and Laos all still in contention to top the group and qualify for the semi-finals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier Laos had beaten the Philippines 4-3 and they now top the Group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Myanmar&#8217;s winning goal came in the 53rd minute from Aung Thi Ha and it would prove to crucial as the final group matches will be do-or-die battles for all three teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Myanmar, who had held Laos to a scoreless draw in the opening match, will play the Philippines in their final group tie on Saturday. Laos will take on Thailand in their final group match the same day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If both Laos and Myanmar draw their respective matches, the team that advances as the group champions is likely to be decided on goal difference. However, if both teams win their games, both teams are likely to advance to the next stage as group champions and best placed second team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If Laos beats Thailand and Myanmar fails to get past Philippines, than Laos would qualify as group champions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If Thailand, who were runners-up at the last edition wins, they will need Myanmar to lose or draw their match to advance as group champions.
