{"id":11669,"date":"2026-04-15T07:52:43","date_gmt":"2026-04-15T00:52:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.infinitysport.asia\/news\/?p=11669"},"modified":"2026-04-15T07:52:45","modified_gmt":"2026-04-15T00:52:45","slug":"squads-revealed-for-fim-speedway-world-cup-opener","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.infinitysport.asia\/news\/squads-revealed-for-fim-speedway-world-cup-opener\/","title":{"rendered":"Squads revealed for FIM Speedway World Cup opener"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Hosts Germany, Czech Republic, Great Britain and Ukraine have confirmed their squads for the FIM Speedway World Cup Semi-Final 1 in Landshut on May 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Launching the 2026 FIM Speedway season, the event takes place 24 hours before the&nbsp;FIM Speedway GP of Germany \u2013 Landshut the following day \u2013 the opening round of the World Championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the first time since 2023, the FIM SWC makes a popular return to the FIM calendar for 2026, with&nbsp;events taking place across three different countries&nbsp;\u2013 Germany, Latvia and Poland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Riga\u2019s Bikernieki track stages&nbsp;the Semi-Final 2 on August 7, featuring&nbsp;Latvia, Denmark, Norway and Sweden. The winner of each Semi-Final joins hosts&nbsp;Poland&nbsp;and reigning world champions&nbsp;Australia&nbsp;in the&nbsp;FIM SWC Final at Warsaw\u2019s PGE Narodowy on August 29.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>National team managers must list a&nbsp;squad of up to 10 riders&nbsp;three weeks before their Semi-Final, before narrowing this down to a&nbsp;five-rider starting line-up&nbsp;six days before racing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Germany&nbsp;have named a side featuring a blend of youth and experience, with former Speedway GP star&nbsp;Kai Huckenbeck&nbsp;captaining the squad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is joined by three riders who won&nbsp;Germany\u2019s first-ever world team championship of any kind, 2025 FIM Speedway of Nations \u2013 SON2 winners&nbsp;Norick Bl\u00f6dorn, Mario H\u00e4usl&nbsp;and&nbsp;Hannah Grunwald&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;the 2025 FIM Women\u2019s Speedway Gold Trophy winner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They are joined by two-time FIM Long Track world champion&nbsp;Erik Riss, Kevin W\u00f6lbert, Valentin Grobauer, Ben Iken, Janek Konzack&nbsp;and&nbsp;Lars Skupien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Great Britain\u2019s squad&nbsp;is led by two Speedway GP riders in captain&nbsp;Robert Lambert&nbsp;and world No.3&nbsp;Dan Bewley. They team up with their 2021 and 2024 FIM SON world title-winning teammate&nbsp;Tom Brennan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former British champion&nbsp;Adam Ellis&nbsp;and 2025 SGP2 star&nbsp;Dan Thompson&nbsp;also join the squad along with Landshut Devils duo&nbsp;Charles Wright&nbsp;and&nbsp;Leon Flint, who call the OneSolar Arena home in Poland\u2019s National Speedway League.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Competing in their first-ever FIM SWC Semi-Final, Ukraine\u2019s challenge&nbsp;is led by SGP2 world champion&nbsp;Nazar Parnitskyi, who makes his debut in 2026 after being&nbsp;promoted into the line-up following triple world champion Tai Woffinden\u2019s withdrawal due to injury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parnitskyi joins forces with captain&nbsp;Marko Levishyn, young prospect&nbsp;Roman Kapustin, Andrii Karpov, Andrii Rozaliuk, Stanislav Melnychuk, Vitalii Lysak, Danko Hladkovskyi, Volodymyr Zlaman&nbsp;and&nbsp;Nazar Fedorchuk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former Speedway GP racer&nbsp;Jan Kv\u011bch captains the Czech Republic squad, with&nbsp;V\u00e1clav Mil\u00edk&nbsp;and SGP2 sensation&nbsp;Adam Bubba Bedn\u00e1\u0159&nbsp;joining him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also in the squad are&nbsp;Daniel Kl\u00edma, former SGP3 star&nbsp;Adam Nejezchleba, Bruno Belan, Jaroslav Van\u00ed\u010dek&nbsp;and&nbsp;Jan Jen\u00ed\u010dek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>FIM SPEEDWAY WORLD CUP SEMI-FINAL 1 SQUADS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>GREAT BRITAIN<\/strong>: 1.\u00a0Robert Lambert (captain);
