Mixed doubles fifth seeds Tang Chun Man-Tse Ying Suet of Chinese Taipei were the early casualties on the opening day of the Badminton Asia Championships in Jiangbei, China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the qualifying stages taking precedence, the mixed double was the only main draw competition to start today. The Taiwanese pair were beaten 21-19, 19-21, 7-21 by Cheng Xing-Zhang Chi after a 70-minute battle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All the other seeded pairs made it past the opening round. Top seeded Feng Yanzhe-Huang Dongping cruised past Thailand\u2019s Pakkapon Teeraratsakul-Sapsiree Taerattanachai 21-5, 21-13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Malaysia\u2019s top pair of Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei were forced to play much harder but managed to get past a resurgent Haruki Kawabe-Kokona Ishikawa of Japan 21-10, 21-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Third seeded Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Supissara Paewsampran were also a class above in their match against Bobby Setiabudi-Melati Daeva Oktavianti of Indonesia 21-9, 21-14 in their first round match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The main draw for all other categories starts tomorrow. Thailand\u2019s Kunlavut Vitidsarn, the former three-time world junior and the 2023 world champion, will open his accounts in the men\u2019s singles against Hong Kong\u2019s Angus Ng Ka Long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Second seeded Shi Yuqi of China will play Lee Chia Hao of Chinese Taipei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the women\u2019s singles, world number one An Se-young of Korea will be looking to rebound after her final loss to China\u2019s Wang Zhiyi at the All-England last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Se-young will take on Singapore\u2019s Yeo Jia Min in her opening match while Zhiyi, seeded second plays Chinese-Taipei\u2019s Chiu Pin-Chian in the first round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Korea\u2019s Kim Won-ho-Seo Seung-jae and Malaysia\u2019s Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik are the top two seeds in the men\u2019s doubles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Aaron-Wooi Yik will take on the Taiwanese duo of Chiu Hsiang-chieh-Wang Chi-lin in their opening match while the Korean top seeds take on India\u2019s Hariharan Amsakarunan-M.R. Arjun tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
