For many of the world\u2019s elite athletes heading to South Korea, Changwon is more than a familiar destination \u2013 it is the range where several of them achieved some of the best performances of their careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thirteen currently standing WSPS individual and team world records were either set or equalled in Changwon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the P1 \u2013 men\u2019s 10m air pistol SH1, both the world record (WR) and the qualification world record (QR) established three years ago in the Korean city remain unbeaten. One of the host nation\u2019s stars, Paris 2024 Paralympic champion Jeongdu Jo, holds the QR (582.0). The WR belongs to Paris 2024 bronze medallist Chao Yang of China (241.8). India\u2019s Manish Narwal \u2013 the defending world champion \u2013 completed the Paralympic podium between the two with silver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Iran\u2019s Paralympic legend Sareh Javanmardi still holds the qualification record in the P4 \u2013 mixed 50m pistol SH1, set at the Changwon WSPS World Cup in April 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rifle events show an even stronger Changwon footprint: nine of the events featured at the last World Championships in Lima 2023 and on the Paris 2024 Paralympic programme have world or qualification world records originating from this range. That includes the oldest record on the current list \u2013 the R8 &#8211; women\u2019s 50m rifle 3 positions SH1 WR set by Korea\u2019s Yunri Lee in August 2022 (461.1). The QR in the same event was also established in Changwon, by Ukraine\u2019s Iryna Shchetnik at the 2024 World Cup (1,186.0).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another Korean standout, four-time Paralympic medallist Jinho Park, holds the WR (252.3) in the R6 \u2013 mixed 50m rifle prone SH1, also from the April 2024 WSPS World Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>French shooting Para sport legend Tanguy de la Forest owns the QR in the R4 \u2013 mixed 10m air rifle standing SH2 with 638.7, set at the 2023 Changwon World Cup.
