The win came just one week after he bogeyed the final hole to miss out on the Players Championships crown.

His miss at the TPC Sawgrass handed the title to Cameron Young but Fitzpatrick delivered teh goods thie flipped the script this time after he edged out David Lipsky for the win. Fitzpatrick finished at 11-under 273.

While Fitzpatrick reveled in the victory, the tough Copperhead Course at Innisbrook doomed 54-hole leader Im Sung-jae.

Sung-jae began the final round with a three-shot lead, and that was gone quickly. The South Korean, who had led since the opening round, shot 40 on the front nine and didn’t make his first birdie until the 11th hole. He closed with a 74 and tied for fourth.

For Fitzpatrick, it was his third PGA Tour title, and the first in three years. He had won the US Open in 2022 and the RBC Heritage a year later. The win propels him from eighth to third in the FedExCup standings.

It was a composed and steady performance from the 31-year-old, who was the only player to shoot four rounds in the 60s this week. He made only four bogeys, fewest of any player in the field.

Lipsky playing in the group behind Fitzpatrick made a 7-foot birdie on the 14th to catch the latter in the lead, but muffed a birdie chance from just outside 30 feet on the 18th. He closed with a 70 to match his best finish on Tour.

Two-time DP World Tour winner Jordan Smith finished third at nine-under despite starting the day seven strokes off the lead.

Xander Schauffele was tied fourth with Sung-jae and Marco Penge a further stroke behind.

Schauffele fired a 6-under 65 final round. He was just one stroke back of the leaders as they made the turn as he began the round with four consecutive birdies.

Three-time DP World Tour winner Penge posted second top-five result on the Tour after the Scottish Open last year.

For Sungjae, he joined an unfortunate group of players, who failed to win as a 54-hole leader. No player who has held a 54-hole lead/co-lead during the four Florida Swing tournaments this season has gone on to win

Final Leaderboard

Pos.

Player

R1

R2

R3

R4

Total

1

Matt Fitzpatrick

68

69

68

68

273 (-11)

2

David Lipsky

69

65

70

70

274 (-10)

3

Jordan Smith

69

68

72

66

275 (-9)

T4

Three players

276 (-8)

Matt Fitzpatrick won the Valspar Championhips with a birdie putt from just inside 15 feet on the final

[44
58
post-10844","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-international","tag-golf
["https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Matt-Fitzpatrick.jpg",1522,878,false
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Matt-Fitzpatrick-150x150.jpg",150,150,true
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Matt-Fitzpatrick-300x173.jpg",300,173,true
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Matt-Fitzpatrick-768x443.jpg",640,369,true
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Matt-Fitzpatrick-1024x591.jpg",640,369,true],"1536x1536":["https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Matt-Fitzpatrick.jpg",1522,878,false],"2048x2048":["https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Matt-Fitzpatrick.jpg",1522,878,false
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Matt-Fitzpatrick-825x575.jpg",825,575,true
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Matt-Fitzpatrick-590x410.jpg",590,410,true
admin
International
["GET
