It was also helped by his third eagle of the week, an 18-foot putt on the par-5 11th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was an underwhelming day for Aberg who carded a nearly record-breaking 9-under 63 in the second round. Still, his three-stroke lead is the largest 54-hole lead at Championship since 2018 when Webb Simpson led by 7 strokes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 26-year-old Swede is seeking his third career PGA Tour victory and his first since the Genesis Invitational last year. Aberg is making his third appearance at The Players; having finished solo eighth in his debut in 2024 but missed the cut last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Twenty-four-year-old Thorbjornsen, who started his campaign with a first round 74, but has made considerable grounds with rounds of 65 and 67 to see himself holding on to solo second spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite closing with double bogey-6 on No. 18, Cameron Young enters the final round in third at 9-under Seeking his second win on the Tour came into the tournament with back-to-back top-10 finishes.
