Noh Seung-yul and Alistair Docherty
The seven way tie atop the Argentina Open golf championships leaderboard has been reduced to two -Noh Seung-yul and Alistair Docherty.
The duo share the lead and a three stroke advantage heading into final round of Argentina Open golf championships with 17-under totals after carding identical rounds of 64 in the third round.
Seung-yul made seven birdies at holes 1, 2, 5, 9, 10, 15, 16 against a bogey atthe third for his 6-under 64 in the third round.
He is hoping to repeat his victory at the 2013 Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship, where he managed to convert his 54-hole lead into a victory. It has been quite a turnaround for Seung-yul , who had missed the cut in only other previous start at the Open last year.
Docherty, in his third round, carded five birdies at holes 2, 8, 9, 15, 18 and an eagle on the tenth but bogeyed the 17th. He has held a share of the lead after all three rounds of the Open and is bidding for his first Korn Ferry Tour victory.
He had finished tied second at The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic, his lone made cut in four starts this season.
Phichaksn Maichon is tied third on 14-under with Shad Tuten. Maichon, who finished sixth in the PGA Tour University Class last year, hit career-low round with a 6-under 64.
Amateur Segundo Oliva Pinto is tied fifth at 13-under. Making his first career start on the Korn Ferry Tour as an open qualifier this week, paces the five Argentine players who made the 36-hole cut with a 6-under 64 in the third round
He is also the first amateur to make the 36-hole cut at the event since Vincente Marzilio, who had also made the cut this week.
As part of The Open Qualifying Series, the leading player not otherwise exempt who makes the cut at this week’s Open will qualify for the 2026 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale
