Sam and Tom Christie have been confirmed as 2025 FIM Sidecar Rider World Champion and 2025 FIM Sidecar Passenger World Champion respectively. The confirmation comes in the wake of the disqualification of Team Steinhausen (Payne/Rousseau) from the entire Oschersleben event – round seven of the 2025 FIM Sidecar World Championship.
Following round seven of the 2025 FIM Sidecar World Championship checks were made by FIM officials that identified potential infringements of the relevant technical regulations. As a result of further investigations by an independent institution, the FIM Sidecar World Championship International Jury found Team Steinhausen Racing #1 machine as non-compliant with the 2025 FIM Sidecar World Championship Technical Regulations (Article 2.3.4) and were disqualified from the whole event.
The British brothers fought a solid campaign over the seven rounds from April through to October to clinch their first ever FIM gold medals.
On the podium at the opening event in France, Sam and Tom followed this up with a run of four second places overall at the next rounds in Portugal, Hungary, Czech Republic and the Netherlands before taking third spot when the series visited Assen for the second time in September.
The brothers sealed the championship with another consistent performance at the final round in Germany.
Sam and Tom will be presented with their respective FIM gold medals at the FIM Commissions Conference in Lyon, France next weekend.
