Two injury time goals denied Svay Rieng full points in their Asian Club Championships Group B match against visiting Johor Darul Ta-zim at the Morodok Techo National Stadium.
Svay Rieng were on course to hand their first defeat with a 2-0 lead only to see Australian import Shane Lowry and La’Vere Corbin-Ong finding the net at the death for Johor.
Svay Rieng’s Brazilian winger Cristian Roque opened the scoring the 29th minute with a right-footed curler from outside the box, beating JDT goalkeeper Andoni Zubiaurre.
His fellow flanker Nhean Sosidan got the second in the 37th minute when he finished off a superb assist by Ghanaian striker Kwane Peprah, who outsmuscled Shahrul Saad and made a clever pass, which fooled three defenders and Zubiaurre, leaving Sosidan with an easy finish.
JDT reduced the deficit in the late stages through Lowry in injury time (92nd minute).
The equaliser eventually came in the 96th minute through wingback La’Vere Corbin-Ong, who finished off an assist from Lowry.
JDT remain top of Group B with seven points, while Svay Rieng are third with four points. JDT are just one point ahead of V League 1 champions Nam Định FC, who have played one less match.
Nguyễn Xuân Son scored a hat-trick on his debut as Nam Định FC notched up a 3-0 win over Myanmar’s Shan United FC at Thuwanna Stadium in Yangon.
