Lionel Beyer of France grabbed a double at the 2nd Beach Teqball International Cup in Wanning as Cambodian players fail once again to reach the podium.
Beyer won the singles title with a clinical 12-3, 12-3 win over Japan’s Akinori Wase. He later teamed up with Ukranian Sagyebo Istvan-David for the doubles gold defeating China’s Zhnag Jun Ming-Sun Zhixu 21-8, 12-7.
Both the Cambodian players – Minea Chan and Ratanak Nak – failed to get past the group stages.
Minea lost all his three Group E matches against the Chinese duo of Zhiang Zhang and Mao Yongqing as well as to Mongolia’s Nominchimeg Tsetsenberkh.
Ratanak picked up victor over China’s Wang Suunde but lost to German’s Diego Gollub and Zhang Chengming of China.
Both Minea and Ratanak qualified for the doubles quarter-finals after a 2-1 record in the Group D. The Cambodian pair defeated Romanians Zoltan Mate-Diego Gollub and Mongolia’s Undrakh Mynganbayr-Nominchimeg Tsetsenberkh but lost to China’s Mao Zhe Ming-Yongqing Mao at the group stages.
Their march in the competition ended in the quarter-finals, with their opponents – the Japanese duo of Seiya Arai-Akinori Wase – making the semi-finals.
