The gulf in the standards between the Cambodian junior swimmers and the rest of Asia was quite evident at the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain.
As in the previous days at the Khalifa Sports City Swimming Pool, none of the Cambodian swimmers were able to progress past the heats.
Sok Esarak clocked 31.35 in the boys’ 50m breaststroke Heat 3, finishing 6th in the race and 24th overall.
In Heat 5, Lim Sokvearaksak only managed a 32.07, finishing 6th in the race and 27th overall out of the 38 swimmers.
In the boys’ 200m Individual Medley Heat 3, Lim finished in a time of 2:24.90 with split times of 29.68, 1:08.44 and 1:49.36.
Pieter Vanoosten was the faster of the two Cambodians in the event. He finished fifth in Heat 4 in a time of 2:17.03. His split time were 27.31, 1:06.16 and 1:45.20.
Pieter finished 18th overall while Lim in 25th spot of the field of 30 competitors.
