Om Sreypenh through to the Girls’ -51kg 16-17 semi-finals
Cambodia will have two representatives in the semi-finals of the Muay competition at the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain.
Thorn Chanthou is through to the semi-finals of the Boys’ -51kg combat 14-15 quarter-finals after receiving a walkover from Iran’s Esmaeil Jafari in the quarter-finals.
He will take on Uzbekistan’s Asadbek Turdiboev for a place in the final. Asadbaek defeated Turkmenistan’s Deryaguly Annaorazov 20-18 in his quarter-final tie.
Also through to the semi-finals is Om Sreypenh in the Girls’ -51kg 16-17. In the quarter-finals Om Sreypenh defeated Hananeh Taghipoorheidari of Iran 30-27.
The lass will take on Filipina Iyeshia Blair Bituin in the semi-finals today.
There was more good news for Cambodia with Visal Chhong qualifying for the Boys’ -54kg combat 16-17 quarter-finals. He edged out Bahaa Din Khodor of Lebanon 29-28. Visal will take on Kyrgyzstan’s Allanur Abdykarov for a place in the semi-finals today.
In the boys’ -45kg combat quarter-finals, Vuthy Chanthon was edged out 27-30 by Doston Abduvaliev of Uzebekistan.
There was also no winning joy in the Boys’ -48kg combat quarter-finals when Porn Sarapich surrendered to a 26-30 at hands of Abdullah Osamah Hussein of Iraq,
In the Boys’ -57kg 16-17 combat quarter-finals Khun Dimey was beaten 27-30 by Isaam Khaleel of the United Arab Emirates.
Meanwhile, in the Boys’ -60kg combat quarter-finals Hem Mangsrun succumbed to a 27-30 defeat at the hands of Rayan Ahmad of Jordan.
Sai Sophea was unlucky to have lost 28-29 in the girls’ -48kg quarter-finals by Mia Nur Al Amani Nushary of Malaysia.

Seng Mengchun’s hopes making the semi-finals of the boys’ -48kg was denied by Thailand’s Panuwat Kasemsin. The Thai exponent, who went on to win the gold medal, beat Seng Mengchun by a 2-0 margin.
Seng Mengchun had qualified for the quarter-finals after beating Tajikistan’s Bakhtiyor Bedimov in his Last 16 bout.
Earlier in the opening round, he had edged out out Pakistan’s Saif Ullah in his opening bout.
It was also end of the road for Heng Malis in the girls’ -44kg round of 32 when she was beaten 0-2 by Mongolia’s Nomin Bat-Erdene.
