Four-time winners Japan flexed their muscles to defeat Cambodia 5-0 in their AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026 Qualifiers Group C tie on Saturday.
Shoto Yamanaka gave Japan the lead in the fifth minute off after he drilled his long-range effort from distance leaving Cambodia keeper Sobotra Chim rooted.
Cambodia tried to respond against a high-pressing Japanese side but were caught out from an errant pass a minute later with Takehiro Motoishi striking from his own half into an unattended goalmouth.
Shunta Uchida then added Japan’s third off Shunta Uchimura’s corner in the seventh minute before Uchida doubled his tally seconds later after pouncing on a loose ball to strike home from above the box.
Cambodia came back strongly in the second half but were let down by their finishing as Japan took advantage in the 27th minute with Yamanaka combining well with Motoishi before finishing off a brilliant team move from inside the box to seal the win.
