Brazil saw off Ukraine, while Spain fought back to beat Italy as both sides maintained their unbeaten runs on day 2 of the women’s Mundialito.
The opening period between Brazil and Ukraine was intensely contested as neither side could convert their chances, leaving the match goalless at the first break.
Jasna broke the deadlock late in the second period, giving Brazil a narrow 1–0 advantage heading into the final period.
Tais and Adriele added their names to the scoresheet in the third period, sealing a 3-0 victory as Brazil kept Ukraine at bay to complete a clean sheet.
Neither Spain nor Italy found the breakthrough in the opening period, leaving the match goalless at the first break.
Italy took control in the second period, with Illiano and Massa both finding the net. Their two unanswered goals gave the Italians a 2–0 advantage heading into the final frame.
Spain responded with three goals in the third period to turn the contest around. Pilar’s strike and a double from Andrea Miron secured a narrow victory, making it two wins from two for the hosts.
Brazil claim first win as Spain stay unbeaten
Narrow victories defined day two of the men’s Mundialito, as Brazil edged Paraguay and Spain held off Portugal’s late fightback to maintain their unbeaten run.
In a closely contested encounter, N. Medina opened the scoring for Paraguay just two minutes into the game, before Filipe Silva equalised for Brazil midway through the period to make it 1–1.
Cantero restored Paraguay’s lead after the restart, but Benjamin Jr. responded immediately and Bobô then put Brazil ahead. Michi struck late in the second period to bring Paraguay level at 3–3 heading into the final break.
Gin found the net midway through the third period to give Brazil the advantage once more, only for Valentin to equalise for Paraguay. Rodrigo then settled the contest, securing Brazil’s first victory of the tournament.
Chiky Ardil opened the scoring for Spain in the second minute of the opening period, but Leo Martins’ late strike brought Portugal level at 1–1.
Pablo restored Spain’s advantage after the restart, before a Portuguese own goal extended the lead to 3–1. Tim pulled one back, but Pablo struck twice more to complete his hat-trick. Brilhante replied a minute before the second break, leaving Portugal trailing 5–3.
Portugal pushed for a comeback in the final period, with Tim’s second goal reducing the deficit to just one. Spain held firm to claim their second victory of the tournament.
