Record-tying Young rockets to the top

World number three Cameron Young carded a record-tying 61 to reach 10 under for the tournament to tie Patrick Cantlay and Patrick Fishburn atop the leaderboard of the Rocket Classic golf tournament.

Cameron birdied seven of his first eight holes in the second round and two on his back nine in a bogey-free round.

First-round leader Peter Malnati slipped down the order. He followed career-low 61 with a second-round 71.

Young is in search of a third title of the season, having also won the PLAYERS Championship and the Cadillac Championship earlier this year.

Cantlay, who carded a 64 in the first round, followed up with a 66, as he chases to improve on his second placing here in 2022. The eight-time PGA Tour winner has not been able to win a title since the BMW Championship four years ago.

Like Cantlay, Fishburn also fired rounds of 64-66 yo share the lead. Making his third start at the Classic, he is first career win.

With rounds of 67 and 64, Matt Wallace (T4/-9) recorded his best 36-hole score of the season (131).

Making his Rocket Classic debut, 10-time PGA TOUR winner Xander Schauffele (T6/-8) sits two-shots back through 36-holes as he seeks his first win since the 2025 Baycurrent Classic

Meanwhile, Matt Kuchar (T48/-4) carded a hole-in-one on the par-3 No. 5, his seventh ace on Tour, tying the most aces on Tour since 2005 with Robert Allenby, Scott Brown.
