Top seeds Joachim Chuah and Rouqaia Othman clinched the PSA Challenger Tour Chennai titles in contrasting styles.
Twenty-two year-old Joachim won his first PSA Tour men’s title of the year with a composed 12-10, 11-7, 11-8 win over giantkiller Adham Roshdy of Egypt. Adham had beaten two seeded players enroute to the final but his challenge was muffled after a close first game.
Joachim had finished runners-up at the Hyder Cup in May and loved up to his potential. He was stretched to the limit in his semi-final victory over teammate Mohammad Syafiq Kamal, but he had no issues with his excellent court coverage against Adham.
Rougaia had a much tougher women’s final, She defeated Korean Eum Hwa-yeong in an epic match 11-6, 10-12, 19-21, 11-7, 11-8.
