Incumbent Yi Veasna of Cambodia will compete against First Admiral (R) Dato Subramaniam Raman of Malaysia for the development and strategic management vice-presidency role at the upcoming ASEAN Para Sports Federation (APSF) elections.
The elections is scheduled to take place in the Indonesian city of Surakarta next month where a new president would also be elected. The elections for the 2026-2030 term would see contests for the presidency, four vice-presidencies, and the treasurer’s post.
Following the elections, the successful presidential candidate will appoint the secretary-general and assistant secretary-general to complete the executive team.
The APSF is currently led by Thailand’s Major General Osoth Bhavilai. The two candidated vying for the position are Senny Marbun, the current president of NPC Indonesia and APSF vice-president for Media and Communications and Maitree Kongruang, vice-president of NPC Thailand and president of the Sports Association for the Disabled of Thailand.
Michael Barredo, president of NPC Philippines, has won the vice-presidency for Media and Communications unopposed, as did Myanmar’s Dr Than Than Htay, who won the the Medical Sports Science and Classification portfolio unopposed.
The treasurer’s position will see Thailand’s Dr Kittipong Potimu and Ali Yusri Abdul Ghafor of Brunei Darussalam squaring off.
