Cameron Young shot a bogey-free round of 8-under 64 to take a one-shot lead over Jordan Spieth and Alex Smalley Cadillac Classic, a $20 million Signature Event on the PGA Tour.
His first opening bogey-free round since 2024, saw Young needing only 20 putts and tying for the most birdies (8) in the opening round.
Young, who won the prestigious Players Championships, earlier this year is looking to bag his third PGA Tour title and the second this season. He was also tied third at the Masters Tournament.
Spieth, the 13-time PGA TOUR winner opened with a 65, as did Alex Smalley.
Canada’s Nick Taylor posted a 6-under 66, highlighted by a 62′ 2″ birdie putt on the par-3 15th hole, his fourth putt made over 60 feet in his career.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler (T27/-1) was 3-under thru five holes before finishing with 1-under 71. The twenty-time Tour winner has 29 straight top-25 finishes since finishing outside the top 25 at the 2024 BMW Championship.
Making first start as PGA Tour member, Alex Fitzpatrick (T37/E) shot even par. The 27-year-old earned his first Tour victory at last week’s Zurich Classic with brother and World No. 3 Matt Fitzpatrick.
Meanwhile Adam Scott (T66/+4) was assessed a two-stroke penalty during the first round for a breach of Rule 6.3c (wrong ball) that occurred on hole No. 8.
Cejka and Steward set the pace

World Golf Hall of Fame member Colin Montgomerie (T6/-5) carded a bogey-free 5-under 67.
